-- Iran to receive $500m by collecting associated gases from West Karoun fields
Iran will receive $500 million annually by launching development projects of the Persian Gulf Gas Refining Company of Hoveyzeh in southwestern Iranian province of Khouzestan, said the CEO of the company on Tuesday.
Afshin Kiani noted that his company invested $1.34 billion, as well as 210 billion tomans, for collecting associated gases from West Karoun fields, adding that 14,000 tons of carbon dioxide production will be reduced by implementing development projects.
-- Russian delegation due in Iran for energy talks
A high-ranking Russian delegation will travel to Iran next month to hold talks on expansion of bilateral ties on issues ranging from oil and gas to transportation. A report by Shana said that the Russian delegation will be in Tehran in mid-May to attend the 27th edition of the Iran Oil Show, a prestigious event which focuses on investment and development plans for major oil and gas projects in Iran.
It said the delegation will be led by Alexander Novak, former head of Russia’s state energy company Gazprom, and the current deputy prime minister of the country.

The city of Kerman is not only famous for its numerous historical monuments, but also for the variety of widely used handicrafts being produced in the region. The officials of the province’s handicrafts sector have focused on training activities during the last few years so that they can expand handicraft production to wider areas. They are trying to use the full capacities of the province to achieve these goals, IRNA reported.
The high price of handicrafts and the reduction of people’s purchasing power have been one of the main concerns of those involved in the sector in the province.

-- Iran Imposes Tit-for-Tat Sanctions on Europeans, Brits
Iran has imposed sanctions on more than 20 individuals and entities from the European Union and the United Kingdom, after the bloc and London imposed a fresh round of sanctions targeting Iranian officials and organizations. The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a y statement that the EU and UK individuals and entities were blacklisted because of “supporting terrorism and terrorist groups, instigating and encouragement to terrorist acts and violence against Iranian people, interference in domestic affairs of Iran, fomenting violence and unrest in the country, dissemination of false information about Iran and participation in the escalation of cruel sanctions against Iranian people as an economic terrorism.”
-- Eurasian Book Fair in Astana Showcases Iranian Works
The Eurasian International Book Fair 2023 held in Astana, Kazakhstan from April 19 to 23 hosted representatives of Iranian publishing industry with over 100 books showcased in the event.
It displayed an array of valuable and prestigious Iranian literary and artistic books in the capital of Kazakhstan organized by Iran’s cultural attaché to Kazakhstan.
-- India, Iran Eye Closer Military Cooperation
The Director General of India’s Defense Intelligence, Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana, stated that India and Iran are working towards expanding bilateral “military cooperation” to newer domains in the future.
Speaking at a ceremony on the occasion of Iran Army Day celebrations in New Delhi, Rana, who was the chief guest at the event, said India and Iran have a “comprehensive partnership” based on strong “mutual trust”. He also highlighted the countries’ long history of interaction and shared cultural and religious traditions, according to India’s ANI news agency.

-- Abbasali Baratipur, composer of Islamic ritual poems, dies at 80
Abbasali Baratipur, an Iranian poet best known for his Islamic ritual compositions and lyrics on Shia saints, died from heart failure at his home in Tehran on Friday. He was 80. Born in Tehran, he joined the Iran Air Force in 1962. Due to his desire to learn relevant technical subjects, he was immediately sent to the United States of America to receive intensive training from the U.S. Air Force.
In 1977, he was dispatched to the U.S. to complete his training in electronics. After his return, Baratipur was commissioned to hold courses on electronics and the English language at the Iran Air Force. He continued his career in teaching until 1993 when he retired as a colonel.
-- No malaria deaths recorded in past eight months
A Health Ministry official has said that not a single death due to malaria was reported in the country over the past eight months. “Over the past eight months, we have faced a four-fold increase in the incidence of malaria in the country, but fortunately, there have been no cases of death or local transmission of this disease,” Abdorreza Mir-Oliyaee said.
The endemic areas of malaria in Iran include the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province as well as the southern provinces of Hormozgan and Kerman, he added.
